AMAZING NEWS!
Back in July of 2011, the Albrecht's granddaughter, Katherine Mary, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma, and she started treatment at Stanford's Pediatric Oncology Unit.  She remained on our Prayer List until January 2012, when they told her she was in total remission!  Today, Katherine Mary is 100% cancer free!!!  She is studying at UC Davis, and currently visiting her grandparents.  She and her family wish to offer you their most heartfelt "Thanks!"

INTERIM/CALL COMMITTEE:  The Call Committee is making progress!  As of October 20th, five phone interviews have been made, with three (possibly four) more scheduled over the next two weeks.  There will be a Special Voters Meeting (for the congregation to vote for a Pastor to Call) on Sunday, November 24th immediately after the Single Service at 10am.  Synopses of the interviews will be available to the congregation on Sunday, November 10th.

IFM SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER:   Join us Friday, November 8th at Paulette's Country Kitchen, 5 to 8pm.  Tickets are $10/ea. and can be purchased from Mary A.  Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, and a roll.  Drinks, desserts, and prizes are available for an additional cost.

CHANGE FOR LIFE:  This is the last week of this fundraiser!  Please return your baby bottle full of change to GLC by Sunday, November 10th.  Thank you for all of your help!

LWML:  MITES FOR BITES! - This is a NO BAKE - BAKE SALE.  There is a Cookie Jar in the Narthex to collect your donations.  Suggested donation--how much would you spend on cake/cookie mixes, etc. or how much would you spend to purchase a yummy goodie?  That sounds like a good amount!

NOTICES:
The spare key to the Social Hall bathrooms is missing!  Please return it to the office.

Please make sure that the coffee pots are turned off and unplugged if you are the last one out of the Narthex.  They have been found on three times last month.  This is a FIRE HAZARD!

Praise in the Mountains:  The 22nd Annual Free Christian Concert, Saturday, August 31st at Gateway Park in Penn Valley.  Drawings, prizes and food all day long!  The Rhythm Riders and Will Derryberry are just a couple of the music makers this year!  The event will kick off at 1 p.m. and will end around 9 p.m.  So, come for a while or stay for the whole event!

RESULTS OF THE 6/30 CONGREGATIONAL MEETING:  Out of 99 Active Voting Members--54 attended the meeting.  There were three motions moved and seconded:  1) To accept the modifications (prepared by our Board of Governance) to our 2009 Constitution and By-Laws--this vote was waylaid by a substitute motion made during the discussion, 2) The substitute motion to rescind the 2009 Constitution and By-Laws and return to the 2000 Constitution and By-Laws--a vote of 22 to 17 (with 15 abstaining) passed this motion, 3) To extend Pastor Meyer's contract during the interim--this was passed unanimously.

FUTURE COUNCIL POSITIONS:  Please prayerfully consider signing up for one of the council positions.  Sign-up sheets are on the table in the Library.

Higher Things Youth Conference
July 16-19th
Today is the last day to sign up!!!  Join us for four amazing days of being immersed in the gospel!  The mission of Higher Things is to assist parents, pastors, and congregations in cultivating, encouraging and promoting a distinctly Lutheran identity among youth and young adults.  Bring a friend!!!  The conference will be held at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.

GLC Rummage Sale:  It’s that time of year again!  We’re taking donations between now and July 18th.  Please no clothes!!!  Call Neil K. (432-6544) to schedule dates and times for pick-up and drop-off of donated items.  The Sale will take place July 19th & 20th.

INTERIM/CALL COMMITTEE:  The committee will meet today at 12:15 p.m. to consider guidelines for Pre-Call Interviews.
